News : S6 centrifuge delivered

PSD have taken delivery of an S6-1G centrifuge.  This is the largest centrifuge in the fleet of 24 centrifuges and, following installation in its shipping frame, has been shipped straight out to Singapore to form part of the STP for McConnell Dowell South East Asia's Downtown Line Contract 916 for the Land Transport Authority.  The S6 has been specially modified during factory refurbishment by Andritz to PSD's own specification.  Amongst many other modifcations, the specification makes the centrifuge able to fit inside a specially designed heavy duty steel frame, which is Lloyds Register certified and enables the machine to transport as shipping containers.  The machine is made up of two main modules, the centrifuge module and the powerhouse module, plus feed pipe, drive motors and guards which are removed for transport and feed pumps.  The centrifuge module houses little other than the centriufge itself and the powerhouse contains inverters, Allen Bradley PLC and electrical control gear.  In use, the centrifuge module mounts on top of the powerhouse module, with the soilds discharge end cantilevering.  A staircase for access to the upper module.

The centrifuge has a 1.4m diameter 4.2m long bowl with variable speed drive, powered by a 160kW motor with inverter control. The machine is equipped with a variable speed twin start 300mm pitch scroll, driven by a heavy duty planetary gearbox, powered by a 55kW electric motor with inverter speed control. This enables the centrifuge to be used for many applications ranging from de-sanding of drilling fluids through silt removal to waste fluid clean-up using artificial gravity de-watering of flocculated solids.  The unit will produce up to 760G at 1000rpm and is expected to handle up to 250m3/hr of ideal fluids but typically up to 135m3/hr of drilling fluids with silts or flocculated solids with clay contaminated fluid with a solids removal rate of up to 60 tonnes/hr of easily separated solids but typically up to 32 tonnes/hr of silts or flocculated solids.
