 PSD’s client Leighton John Holland Joint Venture has completed tunnelling on the first drive of the Lai Chi Kok Transfer Scheme. The 2345m long branch tunnel was excavated at 5.71m diameter, predominately through granite at strengths often exceeding 200MPa. PSD is providing a slurry treatment plant including primary shaker, a pair of SM500PSDP desanders and 2 centrifuges with full time supervisor for the project. The STP has so far demonstrated high reliability through very abrasive ground. PSD wishes the project team well for the main tunnel drive.
