 PSD have mobilised an SS150DP desander and an SU8DP desilter to the construction site for "The Shard" in London, at 310m soon to be the the EU's tallest building. PSD's equipment will be used by piling contractor Stent Foundations to remove excavated cuttings from the secant piles and load bearing piles that they are constructing for the building.
About 50 No. 900mm diameter secant piles will be constructed to a depth of 53m with about 20 No. 1500mm diameter and 60 No. 1800mm diameter load bearing piles will be constructed through Lambeth Beds, London Clay and in to the Thanet Sands.
The Shard will have 87 floors and include offices, apartments, retail space, restaurants and a Shangri-La Hotel and is due for completion in 2012.
