News : Singapore commissioning success

PSD has delivered and commissioned an 1800m3/hr slurry treatment plant (STP) to the Woh Hup – Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Company – Alpine Mayreder Joint Venture at Singapore’s Circle Line Contract 855. The plant includes 2 No. steeply declined deck primary shakers, 4 No. SM450PSDP high performance desanders, flocculation equipment, an S5 and 2 No. S4 centrifuges, 2 No. mud mixing systems, mud storage tanks together with all associated pumps, pipework, access platforms and stairways.

The containerised components of the STP were transported from the UK as normal seafreight containers and delivered to the site in late July 2005. PSD’s Operations Manager, Michael Rowlinson supervised the assembly and commissioning of the plant in Singapore with the help of Matt Moran and Mick Ibison from the UK and local craneage and labour supplied by the client. The commissioning and wet testing of the STP was accomplished in 4 weeks and was achieved by the programme date of 31st August 2005.

Mr. Gary Peach, Tunnel Manager for the JV commented “It is testament to the amount of effort that PSD put in to designing and building the equipment that they could ship so much plant around the world and assemble it in the space of a week or so then install power and test it in another couple of weeks. We awarded the order for this work in late January 2005 and the plant was prepared, delivered, set up and commissioned on site to exactly the original programme timing. Well done PSD!”

A short film of the assembly of the plant is available on request from PSD.
